Editorial Policy and Sources
How our guides are researched, what we will not publish, and how to report an error.
Who writes this site
Content on this site is written and maintained by the Keystream Plumbing editorial team. We are not a plumbing contractor and our pages are not written or signed off by a named licensed plumber, so we do not present them as professional advice for your specific home.
Guides, service pages and city pages are general information. They explain how plumbing systems work, what usually causes a problem, what you can safely check yourself and what a plumber will typically do, so you can make a better decision and ask better questions.
How we research
We rely on public, checkable sources: federal agencies such as the EPA, the Department of Energy and the US Geological Survey, model plumbing codes, manufacturer installation and service documentation, and, for city pages, the local water utility, building department and licensing board.
Where a page states a specific fact drawn from one of these sources, the source is listed at the bottom of the page. We do not publish statistics we cannot trace to a source, and we do not invent prices, response times, ratings or reviews.
What we will not publish
No fabricated reviews, testimonials, star ratings, license numbers, addresses or staff. No exact prices, because plumbing prices vary by market and job; we explain what drives the price instead. No claims that Keystream performs plumbing work, because it does not.
Photos on this site are stock images used for illustration. They do not show jobs performed by us or by plumbers in our network.
City and state pages
State pages describe conditions that hold across a state, such as climate, freeze exposure and typical water hardness. City guides are published only for cities where we have researched local specifics: the water source, the housing stock, the failures that are characteristic of the area, and local licensing and permit rules.
Local rules and utility programs change. Each city guide shows the date it was last reviewed and links to the agencies involved, and you should confirm details with them before relying on them.
Safety
Where a task involves gas, electricity, sewage or structural risk, our pages say so and tell you to stop. If you smell gas, leave the building and call your gas utility or 911. Nothing on this site replaces an on-site assessment by a qualified, licensed professional.
How content relates to our business
Keystream Plumbing is a free referral service. We do not perform plumbing work ourselves. Calls and requests are routed to independent local plumbers in our network, who set their own prices and are responsible for their work. Calls may be recorded for quality.
Our pages include ways to call or request service. Those are how the referral service works and are separate from the information itself: guides are written to be useful whether or not you ever contact us.
Updates and corrections
Each guide shows the date it was last updated. We revise pages when codes, agency guidance or product standards change, and when readers point out errors.
If you find something wrong or out of date, please contact us with the page address and the correction. We fix confirmed errors promptly.
